Do you ever hit those lose streaks? So I used to play where I would win with 4::1 ratio. However. I have played 2 days with my friends in a row and I've literally lost every game I've played. Something like 20 games and I've rotated through the decks I've made. People saying it's a just a stroke of bad luck but damn it's irritating.

A

Oh I know how you feel. I think we all hit bad luck streaks every once in a while. Sometimes it’s more than luck though!

Has your local metagame changed without you noticing, and you need to update your decks to compensate? Are you making worse decisions because you’re tired or distracted? Maybe you need to shuffle your decks better, or have picked up some other bad habit without noticing?

Lots of things go into winning or losing a Magic game. Honestly there’s a lot less luck involved than people would like to believe!

Where should I go to comission a 3D nivix cyclops?

A

There are some good artists here on Tumblr. Try scrolling down our page to find some of the alters people have done and asking on their blogs! I’d link to some but I’m on mobile at the moment.

friendly-neighborhood-voldemort asked:

Do you have any advice on cards for a Sen Triplets EDH? Also, Illusionist's Bracers equipped lets you use the ability twice per come-around, right?

A

I suggest plenty of artifacts and ways to steal cards from your opponents.

Paradox Haze gives you a second upkeep, so you can choose a second target.

Mind control effects are nice. Same with Clone effects.

Mycosynth Lattice, Celestial Dawn, False Dawn, and North Star allow you to play any card from anyone’s hand.

Psychic Intrusion and Praetor’s Grasp let you take cards straight from your opponent.

Daxos is also a nice card to have.

Quicksilver Elemental allows you to use opponents’ abilities.

And finally, I suggest plenty of counters, boardwipes, and creature hate.

And as for the Bracer’s, they only double activated abilities, whereas the triplets’ ability is a triggered ability. I would suggest Strionic Resonator.

Another fun thing to remember about Sen is that if you target someone with her ability and they kill her in response, her ability still goes off, and you can still play stuff from their hand.

Q

high--as---fuck asked:

can i run vorstclaw and phyrexian swarmlord in current standard??

A

Sets that are Standard Legal:

Return to Ravnica

Gatecrash

Dragon’s Maze

M14

Born of the Gods

Journey Into Nyx

Theros

M15

Standard Legal are only the absolute newest sets released.

Edit: Someone said it in a way that is simple enough to add.

"Standard rotates only with the first set of the new block. So M14 stays in Standard with RTR block until Khans of Tarkir is released."

Q

tylerouzts asked:

If I use cruel ultimatum when my opponent has 5 life and I only have 2 cards in my library do we draw or because the opponent life loss comes first on the card do I win?

A

The game will end in a tie.

10/1/2008 If, as Cruel Ultimatum begins to resolve, your opponent’s life total is 5 or less and you have two or fewer cards in your library, the game will result in a draw. Your opponent’s life total will drop to 0 or less, but Cruel Ultimatum must finish resolving completely before state-based actions are checked. You’ll then be forced to draw three cards and fail to draw one. When state-based actions are finally checked, you and your opponent will both lose the game at the same time, which means the game is a draw.

Q

ajanigoldmane717 asked:

So say me and my opponent both have two life, and i use the underworld coin smiths ability that says me and my opponent each lose one life and i do that twice... How do we decide the match?

A

connorzworld:

mtg-talk:

You lost. You losing one life is part of the ability’s cost, so it happens first. When you use it and you’re both at one life, the game checks state based actions before the ability resolves, sees that you have 0 life, and you lose.

Remember kids, spells don’t kill people. State based actions kill people.

You wouldn’t be able to make the second payment of life because you only have one life. you can’t pay with something you don’t have, so only the first ability would be able to resolve , where as te second abilities cannot be paid because it would lose you the game.

Actually you can pay the last life, because you have exactly enough life to pay.

Now, if we were talking about paying for a Phyrexian Mana at one life, you can’t do that. That’s trying to pay two life where you only have one. But you can totally kill yourself with coinsmith with the one life you have left… Not that you’d want to in 99.9 percent of situations. I’m sure there’s a corner case where its the only good move though. Because this is Magic.
