Infinite Combo of the Day: Block Infinite Creatures (Just pray they don’t have trample!)
This hand would be perfect if I had any lands in addition to these other 7 cards.
The Cries of Bad Magic Players, Volume III (via not-so-silent-arbiter)
So you know how you post some really cool card combos and stuff, well I just found one accidentally in a bant deck I made, its not an infinite life or damage one, but still, I thought it was cool. So you start off with a wayfaring temple and a fated infatuation, obviously targeting the temple, then populating, each time you populate, every temple becomes bigger, and you basically end up with exponentially big creatures! As I said, its not hugely monumental, but I thought it was pretty cool!
It’s a pretty cool interaction, to be sure. I think I like Stolen Identity more than Fated Infatuation, though. It’s a bit more expensive but I think it’s worth it, especially in Commander (if thats the format you happen to be playing… Fated Infatuation is better in standard though!). Just the other day I was using it to make an army of Phyrexian Ingesters…. The best part is you can populate those tokens, too, or start making tokens of something else if something better comes along.
I'm making a gate deck with Maze's End and all that jazz but don't know how to get a fast start. I intend to use a few gatekeepers but they are four mana and gate still enter tapped, so what cards can I use to get it going fastly?
I’ve seen Maze’s End decks in action and they are a force to be reckoned with.
I know the deck needs lots of stalling tactics, so Fog effects are great. I think it runs both Fog and Druid’s Deliverance, even though there’s nothing to populate. As for stalling creatures, try cards like Wall of Frost or Fog Bank. Nobody is getting creatures through with those around. (Another obvious defender is gatecreeper vine)
Another thing you’re gong to need is a win-con other than the gate. Crackling Perimeter is only two mana, and it lets the damage rack up quickly.
Finally, if you want to go expensive-ish, I think Kiora the Crashing Wave fits right in here. Her +1 is wonderful for stalling, and her -1 lets you get gates on the field quicker. Another late game card that could help along these lines is Urban Evolution.
Would "Bile Blight" be useful in a mill deck? I can think of other cards that would be more useful but I don't wanna argue with someone who has being playing Magic for about 10 years. Could you tell me how it is useful in a mill deck?
I’ve only been playing for 3 years, but thanks for your confidence in me :P
I don’t know if Bile Blight would be too useful… Though it has the ability to kill multiple creatures, I doubt you’ll see that situation come up too often. At best, I’d put it in the sideboard against Token decks, or the ever popular Mutavault.
Thankfully there are a lot of “kill cards” in standard right now, so you have options! The three I run are as follows:
Devour Flesh: Yes, it gains your opponents live. Yes, they get to chose the creature that dies. But to counter that, you’re a mill deck. You don’t care one lick about their life, and you can just side it out for Bile Blight if they are too token heavy. So I like this card.
Far//Away: Two cards in one! I’m counting Far as a kill card, especially in this format, where Heroic creatures need time to build up and you might be getting rid of some Auras in the process. Plus it can bounce those pesky indestructible Gods if they happen to be creatures. As for Away, it has the same appeal as Devour Flesh. Finally, Fusing the two cards can be a blowout move.
Cyclonic Rift: Early game, this works like Far. Late game…. Good luck to them setting up again while they watch their graveyard become bigger than their library!
I hope this helps. As always, if anyone has other advice feel free to comment!
Edit: Someone pointed out I forgot to ask what format you were playing… I assumed Standard but I might be wrong. There are a lot more options to cover if it’s not standard
